BPM AGM

20180422_140341 (1024x498).jpg

It was standing room only at our AGM on Sunday, 22nd April 2018 with lots more people showing up than expected.

They came to hear Geoff Lealand deliver the inaugural David Beatson Memorial Speech, which was very well received.

Followed by the panel discussion with Clare Curran, Minister of Broadcasting, Communications and Digital Media, and Paul Thompson, CEO of RNZ.Geoff-Lealand-680wide.jpg

Our apologies to those who couldn’t get in.

Fortunately, we recorded these events and they’re available to view on our YouTube page.

Geoff’s speech is available here.

The panel discussion is here.

There were two moments that stood out on the day.

When David Beatson’s widow Lesley Miller stood up and gave thanks for Geoff’s great speech in honour of her late husband, there was a strong sense of connection between those present and those departed.

And a truly inspirational quote from Paul Thompson which showed that he gets public media, and why it is so important to NZ:20180422_143601 (800x389).jpg

Our job is to be that trusted, essential, commercial-free, independent voice for New Zealand and the Pacific. We’re all about building a connected and informed Aotearoa. And relating to people as citizens in a democracy, not as consumers or advertising data.      Paul Thompson, RNZ
